Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Configuration: Set up and configure z/OS, subsystems (JES, CICS), and related software/hardware.
- Maintenance & Upgrades: Apply PTFs (Program Temporary Fixes), service packs, and perform system upgrades (RSU maintenance).
- Performance Tuning: Monitor, analyze, and tune system parameters for optimal performance, throughput, and resource utilization.
- Problem Resolution: Diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex software and hardware issues (Tier 2/3 support).
- Security & Automation: Implement security policies, manage privileges, and automate operations using tools like REXX.
- Disaster Recovery: Plan and execute disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity procedures.
- Capacity Planning: Monitor system capacity and plan for future growth.
- Vendor Management: Work with vendors to evaluate, implement, and support new products.
- Documentation & Support: Create technical documentation and support other teams (operators, application developers).
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Key Skills; z/OS, Systems Programming, Rexx
- Expertise in performing SMP/E and Non-SMPE Installation of ISV products.
- Expertise in IBM and Broadcom Software product installation and Upgrades.
- Mastery of z/OS system commands, utilities, and automation tools.
- Operating system z/OS V2.5 upgrades or later with z/OSMF workflow execution.
- IODF, HCD Skillset to add new devices.
- Sysplex and config management (good to have).
- Fluent in JCL and IBM Utilities (IEBGENER/IEBCOPY/AMASPZAP/DFDSS).
- ISPF/TSO and other basics.
- Basic knowledge of REXX/CLIST.
- Designing a project plan (upgrades, maintenance, decom) with a task list for all stakeholders and communicating the timelines with the delivery and customer.
- Formulate roadmaps with all prerequisites to achieve project completion.
