Pay Range: $32 - $35/hour.  Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
 
Key Responsibilities: 

• Manage and assist Plant Controller in plant spend forecasting and analysis, cost accounting, financial closing/reporting, and inventory management activities while ensuring internal controls are in place and being followed for the Colonial Heights site, Precon, and multiple Spectra Toller locations.
• Perform month-end closing responsibilities including preparing journal entries, ensuring monthly transactions are correctly recorded, analyzing, reporting and presenting spend, production credits, MUV, inventory adjustments and PPV performance.
• Analyze and report financial results on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual basis vs. prior year, plan, and forecast.
• Assist department managers in developing monthly forecasts and weekly pulses (operations, maintenance, HR, engineering, HSE).
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, develop action plans and lead resolution on accounts.
• Support development of the site’s annual operating plan and annual strategic plan.
• Coordinate and assist with multiple annual physical inventories, storeroom inventory, and fixed asset audits.
• Assist site personnel, Accounts Payable, and Procurement with the resolution of blocked invoice payments as necessary.
• Maintain/improve strong internal control processes and educate site through monthly finance learning series.
• Support new product costing.
• Implement financial process improvements to reduce cycle times, automate work, improve forecast quality, and enhance reporting and analysis processes.
• Identify cost savings and productivity projects and track savings.
• Special projects, ad hoc analysis, and other duties as required.

 
Key Requirements and Technology Experience: 

• 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum of 1 year experience in an accounting or finance position.
• SAP experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
• Ability to understand plant and business activities with a view broader than just the finance function
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and communicate financial data to non-financial personnel
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
• Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Self-motivated and results oriented, proactive, able to prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Qualifying Questions:
• Can you describe your experience with month-end closing responsibilities, including preparing journal entries and ensuring monthly transactions are correctly recorded?
•  How have you contributed to the development of monthly forecasts and annual operating plans in your previous roles?
•  Can you provide an example of a time when you identified and implemented a financial process improvement? What was the outcome?
•  How do you ensure strong internal control processes are maintained and followed within a plant or business unit?
•  Describe your experience with SAP and Microsoft Excel. How have these tools helped you in your previous accounting or finance roles?
