Pay Range: $33/hour - $48/hour. Competitive compensation based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shift: Day Shift (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- Schedule: Full-time, 4 days/week (Monday-Thursday or Monday-Friday, 4/10-hour shifts)
- Minimal – approximately 1 weekend every 4 months; 7-9 days of call every 4 weeks for emergent after-hours procedures with 30-minute response time
- Call Requirement:•
- Assist physicians during interventional procedures, maintaining sterile fields and ensuring patient safety throughout .
- Procedural Support:•
- Perform pre and post-procedure care and monitoring. Orient patients to catheterization or electrophysiology procedures, answer questions to ensure patient comfort .
- Patient Care:•
- Monitor patient's ECG, pressures, temperature, and impedances while in the lab; notify physicians of variances .
- Hemodynamic Monitoring:•
- Operate specialized equipment including RF/Cryo ablation systems and 3D mapping technology. Manage and maintain images including stenosis analysis, formatting, and processing for cardiac and peripheral cases .
- Technical Expertise:•
- Participate in daily, monthly, and quarterly quality control initiatives through auditing and reporting. Collect registry and quality data on appropriate forms .
- Quality Control:•
- Follow national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff. Provide emergency procedures (CPR, defibrillation) as needed .
- Radiation Safety:•
- Perform routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment. Order and maintain inventory of procedure room supplies; ensure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment has not expired .
- Equipment & Inventory:•
- Contribute to the orientation and training of new staff and students. Participate in shared governance, department committees, and performance improvement initiatives .
- Team Collaboration:•
- Department: Interventional Radiology / Cath Lab
- 3 procedure suites
- 2 GE fluoroscopy units (soon to be upgraded to Phillips)
- Siemens biplane system
- 12 private room pre/post holding rooms
- 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio for pre/post
- Spacious procedure rooms supporting circulating nurses, scrub techs, and physicians
- Types of Procedures:
- Arteriograms/Catheterizations
- Permanent Pacemaker Implantations
- Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators
- Diagnostic and Interventional Coronary and Peripheral Cases
- Thrombolytic Therapy
- Electrophysiology: RF/Cryo Ablation Systems, 3D Mapping

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Key skills: Current RCIS, ARRT-R, RCES, CEPS, or CCDS credential
- Current BLS and ACLS certification (within 30 days of hire)
- Associate's degree or 2 years of cath lab experience
- Strong technical and patient care skills
- Certified Primary Stroke Center
- Certified Chest Pain Center
- Magnet recognition for nursing professionalism, teamwork, and superiority in patient care
- Associate's degree from an accredited program OR 2 years of work experience above minimum qualification .
- Experience: Less than 1 year of experience required; new graduates are encouraged to apply .
- Certification/Licensure:
- Must meet one of the following credentials :
- RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
- ARRT-R (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Radiography) with MRT through Texas Medical Board
- RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist)
- CEPS (Certified Electrophysiology Specialist)
- CCDS (Certified Cardiac Device Specialist)
- Additional Certifications:
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required within 30 days of hire/transfer
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 30 days of hire/transfer
- Skills: Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation, and techniques. Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Excellent communication, patient care, and teamwork skills. Must be available for on-call response per facility policy and live within 30 minutes of the hospital .
