Virtualization Performance Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Creating scalable solutions and automation to monitor the health and establish signals to drive understanding of our performance environment.
• Anticipating, discovering through ongoing interaction with, and prioritizing client/partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of the team.
• Design and execute performance test plans across Docker, KVM, and VMware environments.
• Create performance test cases / suites / framework using performance tools like K6, JMeter or similar tools and using pipelines to trigger the tests
• Analyze both system-level and application-level performance to identify bottlenecks, optimize resource utilization, and improve overall reliability and efficiency across diverse environments.
• Develop automated performance monitoring dashboards using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK Stack.
• Simulate user workloads and thin client interactions to validate scalability and network impact.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to validate virtualization configurations.
• Document performance baselines, test results, and optimization recommendations.
• Stay current with virtualization trends and emerging technologies.
• Brings holistic and customer-centric perspectives during new development or re-architecture of products spanning across organizations.
• Develops metrics reports such as stress test reports that improve the efficiency of development and operations teams.
• Diagnoses high-severity incidents in Performance before they occur anywhere else.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience: 

• Key Skills; Virtualization, Performance Testing, Vmware, Jmeter, Docker, KVM
• Performance Testing Tools Experience: Hands-on with tools like JMeter, k6, Locust, or LoadRunner.
• Python, shell scripting
• System & Application Monitoring: Grafana, Perf Mon, Splunk and Prometheus
• Knowledge in one of the hypervisor technologies: VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V (bare metal version), KVM (when integrated with Linux kernel)- OLVM uses this, Xen
• Performance Engineering Advance Concept understanding
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
• Brings 3–5 years of experience in virtualization technologies and performance testing.
• Hands-on experience in designing and implementing performance test cases, suites, and frameworks using tools such as K6, JMeter, or equivalent,
• Experienced in performance analysis using Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, VMware vRealize Operations, and Oracle Enterprise Manager to optimize reliability across hybrid environments.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in interpreting system logs, metrics, and traces.
• Familiarity with Linux systems and kernel-level virtualization concepts.
• Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of VirtIO, QEMU internals, and hypervisor architectures.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk and PerfMon.
• Experience with performance testing tools like k6, JMeter, LoadRunner, and Locust.
• Knowledge of thin client environments and hosted virtual desktops (HVD).
