Key Responsibilities:
- Shift: Various Shifts (may include days, nights, weekends)
- Schedule: Full-time
- Operational & Clinical Support: Act as the Nurse Manager’s designee for the Trauma unit, supporting charge nurses and ensuring the effective running of the care delivery system.
- Serve as a clinical resource for complex trauma patients, assist with daily operations, and manage the unit in the manager's absence.
- Staff Development & Mentorship: Play a pivotal role in staff recruitment, mentoring, retention, and performance reviews.
- Foster a healthy, safe, and supportive work environment that promotes teamwork, resilience, and professional growth in a high-acuity setting.
- Financial & Performance Stewardship: Assist with budget development and monitoring for the trauma unit.
- Learn and apply Lean and quality improvement principles to enhance clinical systems, reduce waste, and meet fiscal and performance outcomes.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Model effective communication and collaboration with physicians (including trauma surgeons), staff, patients, and other departments.
- Uphold and communicate performance standards, supporting shared governance and trauma program goals.
- Professional Leadership Development: Under mentorship, develop skills in change management, data-driven decision-making, and business operations specific to a trauma service line.
- Represent the unit positively and engage in professional organizations.
- Quality & Safety: Promote evidence-based trauma nursing practice and staff competency.
- Identify areas for performance improvement, support projects to meet accreditation standards (e.g., ACS Trauma Verification), and ensure a culture of safety and quality.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Key skills; Current RN license (Georgia or Compact State)
- Current BLS certification (required upon hire)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN preferred•
- Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience•
- Substantial experience in Trauma, Surgical, or Acute Care nursing.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related field is preferred.
- Current RN License in the State of Georgia or a Multi-State Compact License.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire.
- ACLS, PALS, and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications are highly desirable.
- National certification in nursing administration (e.g., NE-BC) or a clinical specialty (e.g., TCRN) is highly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience is required.
- Significant experience in a Trauma, Surgical, ICU, or other high-acuity acute care setting is essential.
- Demonstrated informal or formal leadership experience (e.g., Charge Nurse, Preceptor, Trauma Program Committee member) is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong desire to coach, mentor, and develop staff in a challenging environment.
- Aptitude for learning business, financial, and operational management.
- Foundational skills in performance improvement and data utilization.
- Resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to professional growth.
