Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist

Pay Range: $21 - $24/hour.  Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities:

• Shift: 8-Hour Nights
• Schedule: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM (varies)
• Schedule Type: Deferred Schedule
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
• On Call: No
• Candidate Type: Travel Only (No local candidates within 50 miles)
• Overtime:
• Daily OT after 24 hours (based on multiplier)
• Weekly OT after 40 hours (based on multiplier)
• Perform specimen collection for inpatient and outpatient populations, including venipuncture.
• Accurately receive, label, and process specimens following established protocols.
• Ensure laboratory test orders are correctly entered, verified, cancelled, and charged in the lab information system.
• Prepare, sort, and distribute specimens to appropriate departments for testing.
• Maintain laboratory data collection systems and ensure accuracy of patient and test information.
• Follow patient identification, infection control, and safety procedures.
• Assist with specimen transport, storage, and tracking.
• Monitor and restock laboratory supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, nurses, and other departments.
• Adhere to hospital policies and quality standards.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in the specialty
• Phlebotomy Certification required
• Strong specimen collection and laboratory processing experience
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment
