RN Oncology Clinician

Pay Range: $33 - $59/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:
- Exemplary Practice & Clinical Care
- Perform the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Deliver individualized, evidence-based, patient-centered oncology infusion care.
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antineoplastics, hazardous drugs, and targeted therapies.
- Maintain annual chemotherapy competency.
- Provide care tailored to biological, developmental, psychosocial, and cultural needs.
- Partner with patients and families through education, updates, and shared decision-making.
- Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff, operational leadership, and medical staff.
- Provide care in complex situations with strong judgment and critical thinking.
- Teamwork & Collaboration
- Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe and high-quality patient care.
- Use effective interdisciplinary communication (case reviews, rounds, etc.).
- Support team performance improvement and research utilization.
- Support shared governance initiatives at all system levels.
- Promote teamwork that enhances recruitment and retention of staff.
- Professional Development & Initiative
- Complete all required competency assessments and education.
- Serve as a preceptor or mentor to new RN colleagues and other learners.
- Maintain oncology nursing knowledge through continuing education or specialty certification.
- Create and contribute to a healthy, professional work environment.
- Evidence-Based Practice & Research
- Promote evidence-based practice and participate in research-related initiatives.
- Assist with data collection, clinical questioning, and applying evidence to practice.
- Participate in product evaluation through value analysis.
- Adhere to all regulatory, accreditation, legal, and safety requirements, including professional association standards.
- Resources & Support
- Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum of care.
- Participate in developing protocols and procedures to improve outcomes (e.g., reducing readmissions or adverse events).
- Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
- Other Expectations
- Attend staff meetings, in-services, and education sessions.
- Support service excellence goals and uphold the voice of the patient.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with all organizational policies and code of conduct.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Licensure & Certifications (required upon hire):
- Active RN License (Single-State of Georgia or Compact)
- BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years direct patient care experience
- Minimum 2 years outpatient oncology nursing experience (preferred)
- Chemotherapy competency (preferred; required within role per approved provider)
- Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work night shift (for this specific role)
- Ability to deliver individualized care in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Commitment to Hospital care standards, safety policies, and code of conduct.
- Ability to safely administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hazardous drugs, antineoplastics, and targeted therapies
- Ability to handle hazardous drugs per USP guidelines
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to function effectively in stressful or emergency situations
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to coordinate care within and across departments
- Strong detail orientation in patient care and nursing practices
- Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
- Proficiency in computer skills (typing, scanning, EMR use)
- Ability to delegate based on RN scope of practice
- Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code of Ethics
- Ability to travel locally and float between designated sites
