Key Responsibilities:
- Post-Anesthesia Recovery & Monitoring: Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients immediately following surgery.
- Perform frequent assessments, manage complex airway and pain management needs, and evaluate patients' readiness for discharge from phase I recovery.
- Critical Clinical Judgment: Utilize advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to respond to changes in patient condition.
- Implement and evaluate individualized care plans, applying independent judgment in a fast-paced environment.
- Patient & Family Advocacy: Deliver compassionate, relationship-based care. Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery, ensuring they are informed, comfortable, and prepared for the next phase of care.
- Team Collaboration & Safety: Coordinate care effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members.
- Uphold the highest safety standards and participate in performance improvement and shared governance initiatives within an award-winning hospital.
- Professional Leadership: May serve as a preceptor/mentor. Maintain all advanced clinical competencies and certifications required for this high-acuity specialty area.
- Must have skills: Registered Nurse (RN), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Recovery Room, ACLS, PALS, BLS
- Licensure: Current Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) license or Multi-State Compact RN license.
- Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN), Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. BSN preferred.
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Provisional acceptance within 180 days may apply.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Provisional acceptance within 180 days may apply.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required for a Level 2 RN. Strong candidates with 2 years of relevant PACU or critical care experience may be considered. Inpatient PACU experience is strongly preferred.
- Skills: Exceptional clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decisive intervention skills. Must be able to function calmly and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities are essential.
