MRI Technologist

Salary Range: $55,000 - $80,000 annually (dependent upon experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Shift: Midday Shift (2:00 PM – 12:00 AM)
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Thursday
• Format: 4/10-hour shifts 
• Perform high-quality MRI procedures according to established protocols, selecting proper pulse sequences and scan parameters.
• Maintain production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures .
• MRI Imaging:•
• Prepare and position patients for exams while ensuring comfort and safety.
• Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patients, self, and others.
• Screen patients prior to admittance into the MR magnet room according to approved policies and procedures .
• Patient Care & Safety:•
• Utilize AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) when communicating with patients to identify service requirements, ensure correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport.
• Instruct and communicate with patients and families regarding the test to be performed and assess patient's ability to tolerate exam .
• Patient Communication:•
• Perform IV injections and administer magnetic contrast agents specific to procedure as ordered .
• Contrast Administration:•
• Operate MRI equipment, monitor patient condition during scans, and review images for quality and accuracy before submission to radiologist.
• Troubleshoot equipment during malfunction and report issues to appropriate department .
• Technical Procedures:•
• Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, and consent forms.
• Maintain medical imaging records in appropriate system according to department policies .
• Documentation:•
• Maintain equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Work with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment .
• Equipment Maintenance:•
• Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, remaining professional, and developing action plans when required.
• Maintain a calm and helpful attitude under stress .
• Quality & Customer Service:•
• Professional Development: Maintain current knowledge, continued education, and skills appropriate for care across all age groups including newborn, pediatric, young adult, adult, and geriatric.
• Serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives .

Key Requirements and Technology Experience: 

• Key skills: Current ARRT (MR) certification or ARRT (R) with eligibility to obtain MRI certification 
• Current BLS certification 
• New Graduates Accepted and Encouraged to Apply•
• Strong technical and patient care skills
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI program .Education:•
• Experience: New Graduates Accepted and Encouraged to Apply. Prior MRI experience preferred but not required .
• Certification/Licensure:
• Current ARRT (MR) certification or ARRT (R) with eligibility to obtain MRI certification within one year of hire; or ARMRIT certification accepted 
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required (within 30-90 days of hire) 
• Note: Texas does not require a separate MRT license for MRI-only practice at this time
