Pay Range: $42 - $68/hour.  Competitive compensation based on experience. Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational & Clinical Support: Act as the Nurse Manager’s designee during evenings, supporting charge nurses and ensuring the effective running of a fast-paced ED.
  • Manage patient flow, serve as the clinical resource for staff, and oversee daily operations in the manager's absence.
  • Staff Development & Mentorship: Play a pivotal role in staff recruitment, mentoring, retention, and performance. Foster a healthy, safe, and supportive work environment that promotes teamwork, resilience, and professional growth in a high-stress setting.
  • Financial & Performance Stewardship: Assist with budget development and monitoring. Learn and apply Lean and quality improvement principles to enhance clinical systems, reduce waste, and meet fiscal and performance outcomes for the ED.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Model effective communication and collaboration with emergency physicians, hospitalists, specialists, and other departments. Uphold and communicate performance standards, supporting shared governance and departmental goals.
  • Professional Leadership Development: Under mentorship, develop skills in change management, data-driven decision-making, and business operations specific to emergency services. Represent the department positively and engage in professional organizations.
  • Quality & Safety: Promote evidence-based emergency nursing practice and staff competency. Identify areas for performance improvement, support projects to meet accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission), and ensure a culture of safety and quality during the evening shift.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
  • Skills-Current RN license (Georgia or Compact State)
  • Current BLS certification (required upon hire)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Significant Emergency Department experience and demonstrated leadership
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related field is preferred.
  • Current RN License in the State of Georgia or a Multi-State Compact License.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire.
  • ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications are highly desirable and often required for ED leadership.
  • National certification in nursing administration (e.g., NE-BC, CEN, TCRN) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience is required.
  • Substantial experience in an Adult Emergency Department is essential.
  • Demonstrated informal or formal leadership experience (e.g., Charge Nurse, Team Lead, Preceptor, Committee Chair) is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong desire to coach, mentor, and develop staff in a challenging environment.
  • Aptitude for learning business, financial, and operational management.
  • Foundational skills in performance improvement and data utilization.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to professional growth.
