Kafka Lead and App Support

Pay Range: $65 - $70/hour.  Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Primary responsibility includes Complex Application Maintenance, Defect Fixes and Application Support.
  • Would be expected to understand the complete end-to-end architecture involving DB2, IBM IIDR, Kafka and SingleStore.
  • Would be expected to understand the operating production environments, configurations.
  • In addition to being an Individual Contributor, this candidate would operate as a technical / team lead guiding few more engineers in Application support work.
  • As needed basis, would be Responsible for developing complex software to accomplish business goals.
  • On any Development assignments, individual will follow these Guidelines.
  • Ensure that software is meeting functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for writing code, Configuration, unit testing, and ensures the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust and well-tested interfaces.
  • Contribute to story refinement/defining requirements.
  • Participate and guide team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
  • Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
  • Utilize multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements.
  • Assist team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work.
  • Contribute to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance),analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause.
  • Document and communicate required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.
  • Participate, contribute and can coach team members in the delivery/release (CI-CD) events. e.g. branching timelines, pull requests, issue triage, merge/conflict resolution, release notes.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
  • Skills-Kafka, Kafka cluster, RDMS database/SQL/Stored Procedures.
  • 10+ years Industry Experience
  • Senior Kafka based development having Hands on experience working on Kafka cluster. Writing producer/consumer code.
  • Knowledge about Kafka multi-region stretch cluster and optimal cluster configuration. Knowledge of distributed Kafka connect clusters and developing Kafka connectors with understanding of performance configuration.
  • Confluent Certified Developer will be an added advantage.
  • Strong Knowledge on any RDMS database/SQL/Stored Procedures etc.
  • Experience with MemSQL, DB2, Oracle preferred
  • Experience with IBM DataStage ETL Tooling.
  • Working java knowledge to write code using eclipse or IntelliJ tools. Understanding of java coding standards and deployment process.
  • Knowledge of Splunk and Dynatrace tool usage on logging and monitoring. Querying Splunk logs and dashboard creation for analysis.
  • Linux/Unix usage with python or shell scripts knowledge for automation.
  • Experience with Data Replication Tools like IBM IIDR is a plus.
  • Experience with Agile development and tool set like Jira.
  • Extensive experience with Data replication products like IBM IIDR.
