Key Responsibilities:

• Shift: Various Shifts (Rotating or as assigned)
• Schedule: Full-time
• Unit: 3W Neuro Intensive Care Unit
• Neurological Critical Care: Provide comprehensive, high-acuity nursing care to patients with conditions such as stroke (ischemic/hemorrhagic), traumatic brain injury (TBI), intracranial hemorrhage, brain tumors, spinal cord injuries, and post-neurosurgical recovery.
• Advanced Neurological Assessment: Perform frequent and detailed neurological assessments using standardized tools (e.g., Glasgow Coma Scale, NIHSS). Monitor intracranial pressure (ICP), cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP), and other invasive neuromonitoring devices.
• Complex Clinical Management: Administer and titrate vasoactive and sedative medications, manage ventilators, and respond to acute changes in neurological status. Utilize ACLS protocols and manage external ventricular drains (EVDs) and other specialized equipment.
• Patient & Family Support: Provide compassionate, relationship-based care during highly stressful situations. Partner with families to provide education on complex neurological conditions and expected recovery trajectories.
• Care Coordination: Collaborate closely with neuro-intensivists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other interdisciplinary team members. Participate in rounds and ensure seamless, coordinated care.
• Professional Development: Maintain all required competencies and certifications. Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new nurses, modeling professional practice and contributing to a healthy work environment.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience: 

• Must have skills: Current RN license (Georgia or Compact State)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (required upon hire or within 180 days)
• Experience or strong interest in neuroscience and critical care nursing
• Ability to function decisively in a high-acuity environment
• Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing is required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is strongly preferred.
• Licensure/Certification:
• Current RN License in the State of Georgia or a Multi-State Compact License.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required upon hire or within 180 days.
• CNRN (Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse) or SCRN (Stroke Certified Registered Nurse) is highly desirable.
• CCRN certification is a plus.
• Experience:
• Experience in a Neuro ICU, Surgical ICU, or other critical care setting is highly preferred.
• New graduates with completed critical care or neuroscience clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
• Expert clinical judgment, critical thinking, and neurological assessment skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and family support abilities.
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
• Proficiency with advanced neurological monitoring and critical care technology.
