• Patient Care and Care Coordination
• Monitor, examine, and evaluate patients' conditions in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), managing critically ill patients with complex medical diagnoses such as respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac conditions, and multi-organ dysfunction.
• Perform comprehensive assessments and assist with the care plan to promote patients' short/long-term outcomes and wellbeing.
• Deliver care plan as outlined, applying independent judgment where appropriate.
• Collaborate with and communicate patient care plans with intensivists, specialists, and other staff, as appropriate.
• Prioritize and coordinate optimum daily patient flow and patient experience in the ICU.
• Deliver safe and effective care according to policies and procedures, including management of ventilators, vasoactive drips, and invasive monitoring devices.
• Maintain appropriate documentation of patient assessment, changes in condition, care delivered, education provided, and any incidents or exceptions related to standards of care or compliance with hospital policy.

• Listen to concerns, probe in-depth to understand the needs and concerns of critically ill patients and their families, and respond to patient needs in an appropriately timed manner.
• Serve as an educational resource for patients and families on complex medical conditions, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.
• Communicate necessary patient information to family, licensed care providers, and other staff.
• Embrace the concept of patient- and family-centered care to maintain patient, family, staff, and physician satisfaction.
• Prioritize actions according to patient needs and provide input into the plan of care by reporting pertinent information involving the patient and family to the appropriate individuals in accordance with confidentiality standards.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience: 

• Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Licensure/Certification:
• Current RN License in the State of Georgia or Multi-State Compact (RN-COMPACT).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Required within 180 Days:
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Required: Minimum of 1-2 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting. Critical Care or ICU experience is highly preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, with expertise in managing critically ill patients.
• Proficiency in caring for patients on ventilators, vasoactive drips, and invasive monitoring devices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to serve as an intermediary between patients, families, providers, and care team members during high-acuity situations.
• Ability to remain calm and focused during medical emergencies and rapid response situations.
• Commitment to patient advocacy, satisfaction, and maintaining confidentiality and professional standards.
• Ability to participate in performance improvement initiatives and support Shared Governance.
