Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients with emergent, urgent, and life-threatening conditions
- Perform triage assessments and prioritize care based on acuity and ED protocols
- Initiate appropriate interventions including medications, IV therapy, airway support, and cardiac monitoring
- Assist with trauma activations, medical emergencies, and rapid response events
- Collaborate with physicians, EMS, respiratory therapy, and the ED team to coordinate safe and effective care
- Communicate clearly with patients and families, providing updates, education, and emotional support
- Document all assessments, interventions, and care accurately and timely in the EHR
- Participate in emergency resuscitation, stabilization, and safe transfer to inpatient units or specialty teams
- Follow all safety, infection control, and ED-specific clinical standards
- Support patient flow by assisting with throughput, discharge, and handoff processes
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, performance metrics, and continuing education
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department or acute care RN experience preferred
- Active RN License (Single-State or Compact)
- BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Ability to work night shift (for this specific role)
- Ability to deliver individualized care in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Commitment to care standards, safety policies, and code of conduct
- Strong emergency assessment skills with ability to rapidly identify changes in patient condition
- Proficiency in triage, prioritization, and managing multiple high-acuity patients simultaneously
- Expertise in emergency interventions: IV access, medication administration, wound care, cardiac monitoring, and trauma response
- Ability to perform CPR, defibrillation, and advanced resuscitation per ACLS/PALS standards
- Proficient in interpreting EKGs, vital signs, labs, and diagnostic results
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and effective during high-stress, fast-paced situations
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, families, EMS, and interdisciplinary teams
- Excellent critical thinking, rapid decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage a wide variety of cases including cardiac, trauma, respiratory, pediatric, psychiatric, and medical emergencies
