Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized, patient-centered care using the nursing process and evidence-based standards
- Float across acute care units as assigned to support patient care needs
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop/implement care plans
- Coordinate care through interdisciplinary communication (rounds, case reviews, bedside shift reports)
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient progress
- Promote cultural competence and population-specific care delivery
- Participate in performance improvement, research utilization, and shared governance initiatives
- Mentor and precept nurses, staff, and students as needed
- Support development of protocols and procedures to enhance patient outcomes and reduce readmissions
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, legal, and safety standards
- Utilize resources efficiently to support quality patient care across the continuum.
- Strong knowledge of the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation)
- Evidence-based practice application
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Acute care clinical assessment and intervention skills
- Accurate and timely documentation skills
- Ability to adapt quickly in a float environment
- Strong interpersonal and interdisciplinary communication skills
- Patient advocacy and relationship-based care approach
- Emergency response capability with calm decision-making
- Time management and ability to handle high patient volume
- Basic understanding of cardiac anatomy, conditions, and treatment modalities
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients and healthcare teams
- Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing
- BSN preferred
- Active Registered Nurse License (Single State or Multi-State Compact)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Instructor or Provisional accepted per policy)
- Strong knowledge of nursing theory, regulations, and clinical practices
- Ability to work full-time day shift in a float capacity
- Ability to manage high-volume patient information accurately and efficiently
