Key Responsibilities:
- Oncology Patient Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care for oncology patients, including those receiving chemotherapy, managing treatment side effects (e.g., neutropenia, nausea, pain, fatigue), and recovering from cancer-related surgeries.
- Symptom Management: Expertly assess and manage pain, nausea, fatigue, and other cancer or treatment-related symptoms. Monitor for complications such as infection, bleeding, or dehydration.
- Medication Administration: Administer chemotherapy and other IV medications (upon completion of required competencies), manage central lines and ports, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Patient & Family Education: Deliver thorough education on disease processes, treatment plans, medication regimens, and symptom management. Provide emotional support and resources to patients and families navigating a cancer diagnosis.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate closely with oncologists, social workers, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute holistic, patient-centered care plans.
- Professional Development: Participate in performance improvement initiatives, maintain professional competence, and support the growth of other nurses through mentorship and preceptorship.
- Skills-Current RN license (Georgia or Compact State)
- Current BLS certification (required upon hire)
- Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills
- Compassion and interest in oncology nursing
- Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is strongly preferred.
- Current RN License in the State of Georgia or a Multi-State Compact License.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification is highly desirable.
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Direct patient care experience is preferred.
- Experience in Oncology, Medical-Surgical, or Acute Care nursing is highly desirable. New graduates with a passion for oncology are encouraged to apply.
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and empathetic skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate care during difficult and sensitive situations.
- Commitment to patient advocacy, safety, and quality improvement.
